India's first T20 international in the post Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli era after becoming T20 World Cup 2024 champions started in embarrassing fashion as they shockingly lost to Zimbabwe by 13 runs.
India took a young squad to Zimbabwe for the five match T20I series and captained by Shubman Gill. However, the transition era after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from T20 internationals has started in a shocking manner.
Winning the toss, Shubman Gill opted to bowl first and India did well to restrict Zimbabwe for a total of just 115 runs. Chasing just 116 runs, it was expected to be a cakewalk for India, however India's batting failed to assess the conditions well and simply collapsed and were all out for 102 runs, losing the matchup by 13 runs.
This shocking loss to Zimbabwe and in such fashion had many fans wondering whether India's future generation of batters is ready or not.

India's debutants in Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel failed to perform as India's top order crumbled in the game. Captain Shubman Gill was the lone bright spot in batting as wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals.
This had many fans frustrated with the performance and they could not help but wondered on X whether India's future was safe or not after the retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
