IPL 2022 Points Table: Updated standings after GT vs DC, top teams, net run rate & more

The Rajasthan Royals continued their brilliant start to the IPL 2022 campaign as they defeated Mumbai Indians by 23 runs to go top of the points table. The contest which was played at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai saw RR batting first and putting a huge total on the board courtesy of a fine century of opener Jos Buttler.  Cameo knocks from Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmayer ensured that RR got to 193 runs at the end of 20 overs.  

Mumbai Indians chasing 194 runs to win lost two early wickets before Tilak Verma and Ishan Kishan stitched together a vital partnership. Both the youngsters complete their half-century Kishan was dismissed by Trent Boult for 54 runs. Tilak Verma looked in good touch however R Ashwin castled his stumps to turn the match in favour of RR. Yuzvendra Chahal and Tim David were dismissed in back to back deliveries by Chahal, however, the leg spinner failed to pick up a hattrick as substitute Karun Nair failed to hold onto Murugan Ashwin's catch in the slip.  Kieron Pollard did stay till the nd but his innings was not enough to take the team past the finish line.

In the second match of the day, Gujarat Titans defeated Delhi Capitals and move to the third spot on the points table. Hardik Pandya and co-won the match by 14 runs to stay unbeaten in IPL 2022.  Batting first GT posted 171/6 with Shubman Gill scoring his first half-century of IPL 2022. The opener scored 84 runs, while skipper Hardik  Pandya scored was the next highest with 31 runs.  For DelhI Capitals Mustafizur Rahman picked up 3 wickets. 

With 172 runs to win the match, Delhi Capitals lost early wickets with Lockie Ferguson doing the early damage with the ball. Skipper Rishabh Pant scored 43 uns however his innings was not enough to take the team past the finish line as other batters were not able to contribute much the bat. For GT Ferguson picked up 4 wickets. while Mohammad Shami picked up 2wickets.

Four-time champions Chennai Super Kings will take on Punjab Kings at 7.30 p.m on Sunday. Yet to register a win in IPL 2022 thus far, defending champions Chennai would go all out against PBKS and resurrect their campaign when they lock horns for the 11th game of the season.
