'Just the start': Jhulan Goswami fascinated by recently capped IND sensation, applauds debut effort

Jhulan Goswami praised Shreyanka Patil for her match-winning performance in India's third Twenty20 International against England on Sunday. Shreyanka starred with the figures of 3/19 in as India restricted England for 126 after they chose to bat first at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. To prevent a whitewash in the three-match series, the Women in Blue chased down the target with five wickets and an over to spare.

Jhulan Goswami on the introduction of Shreyanka Patil on the international scene

Following the culmination of the match, on a Sports 18 segment, Team India's legendary pacer Jhulan Goswami was asked to state her thoughts on the new talent on the horizon. Goswami was all praise for Shreyanka and said she is hopeful that the 21-year-old will emerge as a premier match-winner for India. 

“It's just the start of the journey for Shreyanka and I hope she wins India more matches going forward. Smriti Mandhana knows her importance. She knows that this girl has the ability to win matches for India and she is an RCB player as well. So she knows how important she is for RCB going forward,” Goswami said.

Dream start for Shreyanka

Goswami acknowledged the achievement of Shreyanka and says it is the best reward a cricketer can get.

"There cannot be a bigger platform than this as a cricketer. Everyone wants to play for India. There cannot be a bigger moment than getting Player of the Match in your debut series in front of your family and fans," she added.

During England's innings, Shreyanka dismissed Bess Heath, Freya Kemp, and Sophie Ecclestone. She also caught Sophia Dunkley and Amy Jones, who both excelled as fielders.
