IND vs NZ 1st Test: Rohit Sharma and Co., have been defeated by India for the first time in 36 years in a home Test match. The last time, the Kiwis defeated India on Indian soil was back in 1988. After the horrific 46 all-out in the first innings, India registered a dramatic comeback in the second innings, courtesy of a fiery ton by Sarfaraz Khan, but that was not enough for the home team as they were only chasing the game for five odd days.

New Zealand Break 24-Year-Old Record

The last time a visiting team successfully chased a 100+ run target in India was South Africa (164 runs) in 2000 at Wankhede and New Zealand have now pulled off a miraculous effort. As far as their own record goes, the Kiwi team, last won a Test match on Indian soil back in 1988.

The visitors needed only 107 runs to win in the last innings. It was not much to get, but looking at the clod cover above the M. Chinnaswamy stadium, the Indian team might have fancied their chances for a while. India had a great start on Day 5, with Jasprit Bumrah sending New Zealand skipper Tom Latham back on six-ball duck. But a 76-ball 48 from New Zealand set the tone for the visitors.

After India bundled out for 46 in the first innings, New Zealand took the driver's seat in the game by taking a lead of 356 odd runs. A heroic century from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kiwi youngster Rachin Ravindra set the tone for the visitors. New Zealand are currently 1-0 up in the series and they'll have their sights set on the World Test Championship finals too.
