The Afghanistan cricket team registered a historical win in the AFG vs ENG ODI World Cup 2023 match and defeated England by 69 runs. The English cricket team was not able to chase down 285 runs and was wrapped for a score of 215 runs. This was England's second defeat in the ODI World Cup 2023, which has given them a lot to think about for their upcoming matches of the tournament.

Afghani spinners script historic win against England 

Batting first at a flat Arun Jaitley Stadium pitch, the Afghanistan cricket team put up a score of 284 runs courtesy of the 80-run knock by opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz and a half-century from Ikram Alikhil. The Afghani team had the chance to reach a score of over 300 runs against England, however, their innings tumbled after English bowlers helped the team come back in the match.

Chasing the target the English cricket team didn't start off well and lost wickets at regular intervals of its chase. None of the English batters other than Harry Brook was able to stay at the crease for long and were dismissed cheaply by the Afghani bowlers. Brook played an innings of 66 runs and kept his team in the match but he didn't receive the support he needed from the other end due to which they lost the match.
