As the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup reaches its climax, India's fate in the tournament hangs in the balance. With New Zealand and Pakistan playing each other in the final Group A game, India's qualification hopes depend on the outcome of their match.

New Zealand's straightforward path

New Zealand has a simple equation to make it to the semi-finals of the Women's T20 World Cup . A win against Pakistan by any margin will ensure their qualification. They are in the driver's seat, and their fate is in their own hands. In the ongoing match, New Zealand Women won the toss and elected to bat first.

Pakistan 's tricky scenario

Pakistan , on the other hand, has a more complicated path to the semi-finals. If they bat first and score 150, they need to win by a margin of around 53 runs to qualify. Alternatively, if they restrict New Zealand to 100, they need to chase down the target in just 10.4 overs to qualify. If they achieve either of these feats, they will leapfrog India and New Zealand and make it to the semi-finals.

India's hopes rest on Pakistan 's performance

If Pakistan wins but by a smaller margin than required, India will qualify for the semi-finals. This means that India's fate is no longer in their own hands, and they will be rooting for Pakistan to not lose or win by a big enough margin.

India lost the plot after conceding a defeat at the hands of Australia in their final group-stage match on Sunday. India lost the match by 9 runs, allowing Australia to advance to the semi-finals of the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup .
