In a significant milestone for the Dravid family, Samit Dravid, son of the legendary Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid, has been selected for the India U-19 squad. The 18-year-old pace-bowling all-rounder has shown promise in domestic cricket, earning him a spot in the prestigious youth team. Samit will feature in the upcoming multi-format home series against the Australia U-19 team.

A look at Samit Dravid's domestic performances

Samit Dravid is currently representing Mysore Warriors in the ongoing KSCA Maharaja T20 Trophy in Bengaluru. However, his performances in the tournament have been modest. In seven innings, he has managed to score only 82 runs, with his highest being 33. Additionally, he has not bowled a single over in the competition, which has led to questions about his all-rounder tag.

Despite his underwhelming T20 form, Samit's selection is largely attributed to his impressive performances earlier this year in the U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy. Playing for Karnataka, he was instrumental in their maiden title triumph in the tournament. Over the course of eight matches, Samit Dravid amassed 362 runs, showcasing his potential with the bat. His standout innings came against Jammu and Kashmir, where he played a composed and fluent knock of 98.

Samit Dravid also shone with the ball in the Cooch Behar Trophy, claiming 16 wickets in eight matches. His contributions were crucial in the final against Mumbai, where he picked up two key scalps to help his team secure the championship.

Samit's all-round performances in the Cooch Behar Trophy, coupled with his potential and cricketing pedigree, have made him a player to watch in the coming years. While his current form in the KSCA Maharaja T20 Trophy may not be reflective of his true abilities, his selection for the India U-19 squad offers him a platform to showcase his talent on a bigger stage.
