'India could win the World Cup with Sanjay Manjrekar as head coach': Manjrekar answers big question

As the search for Team India's new head coach rages on, Sanjay Manjrekar has answered the big question over whether he will coach indian cricket team or not.

The pursuit by BCCI for Team India's new head coach is picking up pace with reports touting Gautam Gambhir as the front runner to become the new head coach for Indian Cricket Team after the T20 World Cup 2024. The likes of Stephen Fleming and Ricky Ponting were also some of the names linked. 

Ahead of the key decision by BCCI, fans on Internet suggested Sanjay Manjrekar could win the World Cup for India as head coach to which Manjrekar gave a clear cut answer.

Sanjay Manjrekar answers big question on becoming India's Head Coach 

While covering the ongoing T20 World Cup, former Indian opener and currently on broadcast duties with ESPN Cricinfo Sanjay Manjrekar was told that fans on Social Media suggested he could become the new head coach for Indian Cricket Team and win the World Cup.

“Sanjay would definitely deserve the position and India would win the World Cup with Sanjay Manjrekar as head coach”, said a fan on Social Media. 

Upon hearing the suggestion, Sanjay Manjrekar was quick to bury any rumours and gave a clear cut answer that he has no plans to coach India neither has any coaching experience.

“I think Andy should answer it. Because you never know. I haven't coached any team in my life, I just enjoy this job so much”, answered Sanjay Manjrekar.

Andy Flower reveals why he did not apply to be the Head Coach of Indian Cricket Team

Accompanying, Sanjay Manjrekar on the show was Andy Flower and he responded to suggestions that he had applied for Team India's new head coach.

The current Royal Challengers Bengaluru head coach revealed that he did not apply for the Indian Cricket Team job because of his commitments in franchise but revealed that whoever gets the job will be extremely lucky. 

"I applaud the way you have passed the answer to me. I have not applied for the job on the basis that I am very happy with my appointments at the moment in franchise cricket. I think it's an amazing job. Whoever does get it, I think they are lucky from a professional and personal point of view. It's one of the best jobs in cricket that you could get and a huge honour for whoever gets it". 

The Indian team is currently under the tutelage of Rahul Dravid but he will be departing at the end of the ongoing World Cup in June and BCCI is expected to name their pick to succeed Dravid.
