After years of waiting on the fringes the moment finally arrived for Riyan Parag as he made his debut for Team India against Zimbabwe at Harare in the first T20I in India's five match T20 series against Zimbabwe. 

Riyan Parag had a decent season with Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024 and was dejected at not being picked in India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad. However, his debut for Team India would certainly be a special moment for the batter. 

Riyan Parag's debut for Indian Cricket Team means that he is now the first ever cricketer from Assam to make his debut for Team India.

An Emotional moment for Riyan Parag

Making your debut for Team India is certainly an extremely special and a dream feeling for any cricketer in the country. But to make the moment extra special for Riyan Parag, he was presented his Team India cap by his father Parag Das. 

Parag Das was himself a first class cricketer and it would have been an equally special for him to present this cap to his son.

3 Debutants for India vs Zimbabwe

Not only is Riyan Parag making his debut for India in the first T20I against Zimbabwe but Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) star batter Abhishek Sharma is also making his debut for India.  

Dhruv Jurel who has already made his test debut for India will also be making his T20 debut for the men in blue.  

Shubman Gill is going to captain a new look India in the T20 series against Zimbabwe. It will be interesting to see how the new generation performs in this series and the team reaches a transitional phase in T20Is with the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli
