'He will take more time than expected': Latest update on Suryakumar & Mohammad Shami's injury issues

New updates have emerged on stars Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami as Team India is set to compete against Afghanistan and England.

Team India has a couple of Injury situations to address as they head into the new year. ODI World Cup hero Mohammed Shami is out of action with an injury. Team India's Suryakumar Yadav also sustained an injury that has sidelined him from the matches. Team India announced their line-up for the Afghanistan series, and both names were missing from the list. As the players continue their journey in recovery, a new update has surfaced over Suryakumar Yadav's injury.

Suryakumar Yadav may miss out on action for more time 

Suryakumar Yadav, the number one batter in the ICC T20I rankings, is currently out of action and is treating an ankle injury. The star India batter is set to undergo surgery for the same. While there is no fixed timeline for his return, it is speculated that SKY will return in the IPL 2024 season and play with the Mumbai Indians.

As per a report from Indian Express, Surya is suffering from Hernia and will have to go through surgery to avoid further complications down the road. The medical staff at BCCI is keeping a careful eye on SKY, who may travel overseas for the surgery.

"In Yadav’s case he will take more time than expected. After his hernia operation it might take up to eight-nine weeks for him to start training. Hopefully he will be fit during the IPL,” a BCCI source said.

A colossal update on Mohammed Shami emerges

Team India's World Cup hero, Mohammed Shami, played a pivotal role in the Team's campaign throughout the CWC. The ace bowler player through an ankle injury and delivered one of the best figures in his career. Shami is currently of action as he is nursing his injury and missed out on the IND-SA all-format tour. A new update has emerged on the star India bowler. As per the aforementioned report, a BCCI source said,

“Shami hasn’t even started to bowl, he will have to go to NCA and prove his fitness. He looks doubtful for the first two Tests against England."

Team India will face Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series, followed by a five-match Test series against England.
