The star batter and the former captain of the Indian Cricket Team, Virat Kohli is currently in a vacation from the game of cricket after wrapping up his involvement in the ODI World Cup 2023 in India. After a spectacular performance that saw him win the Player of the Tournament award and finish as CWC 23's top run scorer, Kohli is currently spending time with his family while vacationing in London. His absence will soon come to an end, though, as he gets ready to return to Team India for the later part of this month's two-match Test series against South Africa.

Virat Kohli and the 'Chicken Tikka' Controversy

A different topic regarding the cricket player himself is trending on social media, along with the news of Kohli's anniversary celebration post going viral on Tuesday, December 12, which garnered most of the attention. Notably, Kohli posted an Instagram story showing his dinner plate, which had the a statement saying: 

 You’ve nailed this mock chicken tikka @bluetribeofficial my god.

Fans were perplexed by this message, given Kohli's earlier determination to refrain from eating non-vegetarian food due to health concerns. However, the 35-year-old added that he was eating "mock chicken tikka", something that is clearly mentioned in the post. What he ate was a plant-based, often produced from soy, reaffirming his vegetarian diet. People find it difficult to discern between the plant-based alternatives due to the complexities of it's flavours and textures.

Kohli will return to action against South Africa on December 26, 2023 

Kohli, along with skipper Rohit Sharma, took a break from white-ball cricket in preparation for the forthcoming South Africa Test series and will shortly return to the team. The first Test is will take place from December 26 to 30 at Centurion's SuperSport Park, followed by the second from January 3 to 7 at Cape Town's Newlands.
