Virat Kohli is the Highest Tax-Paying Sportsperson in India; Here's How Much He Paid Last Year

Virat Kohli, the star cricketer and one of the most celebrated athletes in the world, has not only been making headlines for his on-field performances but also for his financial contributions off the field. In the previous financial year, Kohli emerged as the highest tax-paying sportsperson in India.

Here's how much tax Virat Kohli paid in the last financial year

Virat Kohli paid a staggering INR 66 crore in taxes. This massive figure underscores Kohli's status not only as a cricketing icon but also as a significant contributor to the nation's economy.

Trailing behind Virat Kohli is another cricketing legend, MS Dhoni, who paid INR 38 crore in taxes, making him the second-highest taxpayer among Indian sportspersons. Sachin Tendulkar, often regarded as the "God of Cricket," ranks third on the list with a tax contribution of INR 28 crore. 

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is fourth on the list, with a tax payment of INR 23 crore. Meanwhile, the current generation of cricket stars is also making their mark, with all-rounder Hardik Pandya and wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant securing the fifth and sixth spots, paying INR 13 crore and INR 10 crore in taxes, respectively.

Only Indian cricketers feature in the list of the highest tax-paying sportspersons in India. The list is otherwise dominated by celebrities from the Indian film industry. The most surprising thing about the list is that Indian skipper Rohit Sharma did not make the cut despite being one of the highest-paid athletes in India. 

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is enjoying a break from cricket after winning the T20 World Cup for India. Kohli was called for the ODI series against Sri Lanka, which he came and played before leaving for a break again. Kohli is expected to play in 6the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, starting September 19.
