‘Virat Should Not Have Done That’: Kohli’s BIG Mistake as Captain Revealed by Ex-RCB Head Coach
As a Test captain, Kohli achieved a lot of success and hence Sanjay Bangar reckons he should have continued for a little more time.
Virat Kohli, who is arguably the best batter of the generation, stunned one and all in January 2022, when he stepped down as the Test captain of the Indian cricket team. While speculations were rife over the reason for Kohli's decision, a couple of years later, former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar reacted on it. As per Bangar, Kohli should easily have continued for a bit more.
Speaking on 'The Rao Podcast', Bangar said: "I personally feel that he (Kohli) should have continued slightly for longer as a Test captain. He probably captained India in 65 Test matches, and one of things I feel is that he could have probably continued as a Test captain for a longer period."

Kohli as India's Test Captain
Kohli, who was extremely aggressive as a captain, led the side in 68 Test matches. In those 68 matches, India won 40 of them which meant his winning percentage was 58.82. Kohli took over the reins from MS Dhoni in December 2014 and soon in 2015, Kohli registered his first series win against Sri Lanka. India had defeated Sri Lanka in their own backyard after 22 years. Kohli also led the side to it's first-ever Test series win in Australia in 2018. During his tenure as India's Test captain, the side became No. 1 in the red-ball format as well. He also led India to the final of the inaugural World Test Championship.
