Amid much speculation, Virat Kohli is likely to be Royal Challengers Bengaluru's first retention. As per a report, Kohli would be retained along with Faf du Plessis and Mohammed Siraj. This was on the cards given their stature and ability. Kohli has been part of the RCB franchise ever since the inception of the cash-rich Indian Premier League. RCB has never won the IPL title but the franchise has always shown immense faith in the ability of Kohli. The modern-genius is also one of the top run-getters in the history of the league. In 252 matches, Kohli has amassed 8004 runs. RCB realise that Kohli could break the bank if he is released and hence they will never take that route.

If this report is to be believed, then top stars like Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green may be released. As of now, it cannot be confirmed as each team can make more than three retentions. Franchises can retain upto five players - so the chances of Maxwell and Green making it cannot be ruled out.

RCB SQUAD: Faf du Plessis (captain), Glenn Maxwell, Virat Kohli , Cameron Green, Rajat Patidar, Anuj Rawat, Dinesh Karthik , Suyash Prabhudessai, Will Jacks, Mahipal Lomror, Karn Sharma, Manoj Bhandage, Mayank Dagar, Vyshak Vijaykumar, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, Reece Topley, Himanshu Sharma, Rajan Kumar, Alzarri Joseph, Yash Dayal, Tom Curran, Lockie Ferguson, and Swapnil Singh.
