'What happened to Pakistan?': Kevin Pietersen can't believe quick degradation of Pakistan cricket
Kevin Pietersen expresses astonishment at the rapid decline of Pakistan cricket, questioning the drastic changes that have occurred within the team.
On Sunday, August 25, Pakistan lost the 1st of 2 Test match by 10 wickets against Bangladesh, performing really poorly. Targeting 30, Pakistan barely scored 146 in the second innings. Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim was brilliant, reaching 191 in their first innings. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan had excellent performances guaranteeing Pakistan's loss. In front of Bangladesh's dominating show, Mohammad Rizwan's 51 and Abdullah Shafique's 37 fell short. Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium's home team suffered a dismal result from Pakistan's poor batting and bowlers trying to get Bangladesh's formidable lineup under control.

Kevin Pietersen questions what caused Pakistan cricket's significant decline after their 10-wicket loss to Bangladesh
Former England captain Kevin Pietersen voiced worries about the situation of Pakistan men's cricket on Monday, August 26, expressing dissatisfaction over their recent 10-wicket defeat to Bangladesh in the Rawalpindi Test. Drawing on his expertise in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Pietersen had expected improved team play but it was below poor. As it is evident, the Pakistan Cricket Team has been performing terribly in all formats of the sport. Kevin Pietersen on X:
"What happened to cricket in Pakistan?" Pietersen said on X. "When I played the PSL, the standard of that league was tremendous, the players had a very good work ethic and the youngsters on display were magic. What’s happening there?"
After declaring their first innings, this loss was just the fourth occasion Pakistan had lost a Test match. Bangladesh created a 117-run advantage in the second innings by proving more flexibility on the flat pitch conditions. Then they bowled well, dismissing Pakistan for only 146 runs.
Bangladesh's openers responded by rapidly chasing down the low mark in under seven overs, therefore securing their first-ever Test victory on Pakistani territory.
Kevin Pietersen scored 611 runs over 27 matches during three seasons of Pakistan Super League (PSL) participation between 2016 and 2018. Many of his Pakistani colleagues either retired, were disqualified because of age-related reductions, or moved overseas claiming low domestic possibilities when he was with the Quetta Gladiators.
