As Team India gears up to face Bangladesh in the upcoming home series, the Indian batters are leaving no stone unturned in their preparation. In a bid to counter Bangladesh's towering pace sensation Nahid Rana, who stands at an impressive 6.5 feet tall, the Indian team has brought in an equally tall and talented pacer to help them prepare. The first Test of the two-match series between India and Bangladesh is scheduled to be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, starting September 19.

Who is the 6.4-foot tall bowler helping Indian batters in Chennai?

Enter Gurnoor Brar, a 24-year-old Punjab bowler who has been drafted as a net bowler for India in Chennai. Gurnoor, who measures 6'5 feet tall, has been tasked with replicating Nahid Rana's pace and bounce, allowing the Indian batters to get accustomed to the extra height and speed.

Despite his relatively limited first-class experience, having played just five games and taken seven wickets, Gurnoor has already made a name for himself in the Indian Premier League ( IPL ). He was picked up by Punjab Kings for the 2023 season as a replacement for Raj Bawa and made his IPL debut against Lucknow Super Giants in April.

Interestingly, Gurnoor's connection to the IPL goes back to 2019 when he was a net bowler for the five-time champions Mumbai Indians . Now, he's using that experience to help Team India prepare for the Bangladesh Tests. With his height and pace, Gurnoor is providing the Indian batters with a unique challenge, one that will hopefully pay dividends when they face Nahid Rana in the series starting September 19.

Nahid Rana, the 21-year-old Bangladesh pace sensation, has been making waves with his recent performances, particularly in the series against Pakistan . His standout display in the second match, where he claimed impressive figures of 4/44, played a crucial role in Bangladesh's convincing 2-0 series victory.

What's more impressive is Nahid Rana's ability to consistently deliver speeds of 150 km/h, making him a formidable force on the field.
