The BCCI's selection committee has unveiled the squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan on Sunday. Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been included in the squad with the latter being appointed captain of the side. Kohli and Rohit have returned to India's T20I side for the first time since the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

Despite expectations of their T20I comeback against Australia and South Africa, they missed both series, leading to doubts about their participation in the T20 World Cup 2024.
However, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's inclusion in the T20I squad for the Afghanistan series has cleared all speculations around their selection for the upcoming World Cup, scheduled to be co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA.
