'A huge disappointment, but...': Jos Buttler breaks his silence on England's forgettable CWC 23 run
England white ball captain Jos Buttler finally opens up on the disastrous ODI World Cup campaign as they failed to reached the last four.

Defending champions England had a forgetful ODI World Cup campaign. The Three Lions comparatively had a strong squad on paper but completely failed to utilise their potential. Jos Buttler's maiden World Cup as the England skipper ended on a disastrous note.

England had one of the worst World Cup campaigns
England could only manage three wins against Pakistan, Netherlands and Bangladesh as they finished seventh in the tournament. Buttler's performance was particularly pretty concerning as the England batter couldn't even record a half century in the entire World Cup. Buttler's awful display might have had a long lasting effect on England's World Cup plans. Following their disappointing World Cup, the Buttler led England will now face West Indies in a three match ODI series.
There were calls to remove him from the leadership role but the management kept their trust in the player and the onus will be on him now to find some form in the upcoming series. He insisted that despite the World Cup performance he is pretty optimistic as there's always something to look forward to.

Jos Buttler opens up on World Cup failures
As quoted by Sky Sports he said, "It's this easy to be captain hindsight. Say you got XYZ wrong, when if you don't play well enough to try and implement your plan, the decisions can maybe become a little bit irrelevant. I always think of Ben Stokes' words to Jofra about the super over: whatever happens here doesn't define you and I certainly don't feel like that World Cup is the defining moment for me.

"It's a huge disappointment but it doesn't define me as a person or my whole career. So, just use it as something to make sure I look forward now and enjoy the challenges ahead. Life moves on, the world moves on pretty fast. There's always something to look forward to. It's never as bad as you think it is and it's never as good as you think it is."
