It was a fairytale run for Travis Head as despite missing out on the initial few matches, the southpaw recorded two centuries in the tournament which proved to be a major difference for the Aussies. Adam Zampa and Glenn Maxwell also played their part and the former picked up a whopping 23 wickets and finished as the second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament.

Rachin Ravindra also had a fantastic tournament as he broke Jonny Bairstow's record of scoring the most number of runs in a debut ODI World Cup. Dilshan Madushanka led Sri Lanka's campaign which otherwise was a disappointing one as they could only manage two wins in the World Cup. Gerald Coetzee was also impressive in his debut World Cup and fast bowler could be a permanent fixture in the Proteas squad from here on.
