'Bazball is fine in...': Shoaib Akhtar chalks out England's fault in World Cup 2023

As it has happened throughout the tournament, Team India became the recipient of exorbitant praise after pulling off yet another one-sided win in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. All the mainstream experts have showered praise on the team and some have even tagged Rohit-led side as invincible. Former Pakistan bowler, Shoaib Akhtar has also applauded the performance of Men in Blue against England, and pointed out the region where England faltered.

"India have beaten England very badly," Akhtar said on his YouTube channel. "England got defeated badly because they are playing such a brand of cricket where they are bringing T20 cricket into ODIs. There is no planning on who will build an innings, who will play at a run-a-ball, who will construct an innings and who will slog."

“I am very sad to see England heading out of the World Cup. Bazball is fine in Test matches, but you have to play an ODI like an ODI.”

After batting first for the first time in the competition, the Men in Blue struggled to score runs freely but courtesy of Rohit Sharma's scintillating knock of 87 and Suryakumar Yadav's needful 49, India somehow got to the total of 229 runs. In reply, just as when the England openers were looking to set the tone for the chase, quicks Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami rolled over the English batting yard and left the team quenching for every run. England bundled out for a meagre 129,  thus, the bottom line was set i.e., India vanquished England by 100 runs. Captain Rohit Sharma became the man of the match for his incredible innings of 87 runs.
