Mohammed Kaif warns Rohit Sharma and co. to not take Pakistan lightly

Even if Babar Azam's team just lost to the United States of America, Muhammad Kaif has warned India against underestimating Pakistan in their 2024 World Cup match. In particular on a seamer-friendly surface, Kaif underlined that India must exercise caution against Pakistan's potent pace attack.

The two rivals will square off on Sunday, June 9 in a Group A game in New York. India feels confident coming into the match having defeated Ireland by eight wickets at the same ground on June 5, while Pakistan lost unexpectedly to the USA in a Super Over in Dallas the next day.

Kaif underlined on Star Sports Pakistan's unpredictable nature and the need of never taking them lightly. Mohammed Kaif said:

“Pakistan are coming after losing their last game. However, no matter how badly they might have played the last match, don't take Pakistan lightly because Pakistan play like that only. When you feel that they are such a bad team as they lost to the USA, anything can happen when they come to play tomorrow (on Sunday),”

"They have the bowling. They have Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Mohammad Amir, although the last match might have gone bad. On a pitch that is helping fast bowling, Pakistan have the fast bowlers. If India get to bat first, anything can happen. So India will have to be ready and absolutely alert. The Indian team will have to play their best game in tomorrow's match,"

For its next games, Pakistan is expected to go with a potent four-seam attack led by Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Amir. In the meanwhile, Iftikhar Ahmed might offer some crucial overs of spin, but Shadab Khan is probably the only frontline spinner in their starting XI.

Speaking of Indian Cricket Team, the Men in Blues won their first match against Ireland, Mohammed Kaif said:

"India dominated the first match. The way they won the match, it was a massive victory. Whether you talk about batting or bowling, it was fantastic. Hardik Pandya picked up wickets and Jasprit Bumrah bowled a splendid maiden over, his first over,"

"Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten half-century. He went out because he got hurt. India couldn't have got a better start than this. On a seaming track where batting was difficult, Rohit Sharma's bat fired and Rishabh Pant went unbeaten after scoring the winning hit. In my opinion, India couldn't have prepared better than this,"

India showed off their dominance in the opening Twenty20 World Cup match by limiting Ireland to just 96 runs. Even though Virat Kohli was out early in the chase, India won handily with to the fast 52 from Rohit Sharma and the unbeaten 36 from Rishabh Pant.
