ODI World Cup: Bowlers lead Indian team to 6th consecutive victory
India defeated England by 100 runs on Sunday to win the World Cup for the sixth time in a row. Rohit Sharma's valiant 87 on a difficult pitch was followed by Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami's enchanting opening spells.
Without the outstanding effort of captain Rohit (87 off 101 balls), who stood out as most Indian batters fell by the wayside on a two-paced pitch, the decisive victory would not have been possible.
In the final overs, Suryakumar Yadav (49) scored the crucial runs to take India to 229 for nine.
The unbeatable hosts, Shami (4/22) and Bumrah (3/32) stole the show with the ball as the England batters once again made a pitiful figure, collapsing to 129 all after being all out in 34.5 overs, their fifth loss in six games.
