What went wrong for Team India in the CWC 2023 finals?
The Indian cricket team started off well in the finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup and opener Rohit Sharma tried to give a blazing start to the team. However, other batsmen such as Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and Suryakumar Yadav were not able to stay at the crease for long and got out cheaply. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli scored half-centuries and tried to take the team to a respectable score. However, besides all the chaos, the ‘Men in Blue’ were able to put up 240 runs on the board in the first innings.
Defending the target, Team India bowlers also removed top Australian batters David Warner, Steve Smith, and Mitchell Marsh early but it was Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne who took the match away from the Indian team with their crucial partnership. Head went on to score a century and secure the player of the match in the final.
