Team India is all set to begin their redemption arc as they set foot into the group stage competition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. The Men in Blue, which will be led by Rohit Sharma, will aim to enforce dominance throughout the competition. Team India is among the top powerhouses in the tournament, and former Australian cricketer Michael Clarke certainly believes so. However, he also pointed out the aspect which could pose a risk in the squad, which is them being incredibly reliant on their spin-bowling options throughout the prestigious tournament.

Michael Clarke reveals the one risky thing India took for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024

During an appearance with ESPN, Michael Clarke believes that out of all the teams competing in the T20 World Cup, India presents the greatest threat. The former cricket player for Australia did admit, though, that the Men in Blue have taken a chance by going with a side that is strong on spin.

“If you look at the favourites for the World Cup it's got to be India just because of the amount of cricket they have played, their preparation has been outstanding. Conditions are different to India but there are a lot of similarities so the players would be used to that.

“I think India have taken a risk with the squad they have picked - heavily reliant on spin, very different from Australia. But in the conditions that I have played in the Caribbean, I think how you play spin is going to be a huge part of whether you succeed or not. India are the biggest threat for me with regards to who is going to win the World Cup,” Michael Clarke said.

For the T20 World Cup, four spinners have been chosen by the BCCI selection committee: Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav are the side's true spinners, while Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja are the team's spin all-rounders.

Team India will have their only warm-ups against Bangladesh on June 1, and they will begin their group-stage matches against Ireland on June 04, 2024.
