This early exit not only disappointed Indian fans but also extended an undesirable record for Rohit Sharma. With this dismissal, Sharma now holds the record for the most single-digit scores in T20 International (T20I) cricket, totaling 49 such instances.

This match against Afghanistan was crucial for India's campaign in the tournament, but Rohit Sharma's inability to contribute significantly with the bat was a setback. His struggle for consistency has been a topic of discussion among cricket enthusiasts and analysts alike. Despite his reputation as one of the most explosive and reliable batsmen in T20 cricket, this record underscores a pattern of inconsistency in his performances.

Rohit Sharma had already surpassed Mohammad Nabi of Afghanistan, who has 46 single-digit scores, followed by Ireland's Paul Stirling with 43 and Kevin O'Brien with 42. Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan also features on this list with 42 single-digit dismissals.
