At the Kensington Oval in Barbados, Team India defeated South Africa by a margin of 7 runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 final, so becoming the new world champions. The squad was supposed to celebrate their historic victory with their Indian supporters, but due to Hurricane Beryl's devastating impact on Barbados, they were forced to abandon their plans and find themselves stranded in the West Indies.
To make matters worse for the Indian cricket team, Hurricane Beryl's path across the Caribbean Islands has caused it to be categorised as "Extremely Dangerous".
It is currently anticipated that Team India will return on Thursday morning in New Delhi. Due to Hurricane Beryl's intensification into a Category 5 hurricane and the subsequent closure of Barbados' airports and enterprises, the travel plans have been modified. The initial Monday departure time of 11 AM local time (Barbados) has been rescheduled for two days due to the extreme weather. Therefore, the team's safe return has been the top priority right now, according to reports.

Following their victory in the T20 World Cup 2024, a unique chartered flight provided by Air India has landed at Barbados Airport to return Team India home.
Given the influence of the hurricane, the squad has been instructed to stay at their hotels waiting for better conditions. As Barbados's position is improving, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has arranged a specific chartered flight for their return trip.
Later tonight the Indian team is supposed to leave; they should be in Delhi early tomorrow morning. They will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi when they arrive; he had called them to congratulate them on their historic triumph.
To travel with the squad on their way back home, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has offered the stuck Indian media staff in Barbados.
