Wasim Akram, a renowned cricketer from Pakistan, has been critical of Imad Wasim's decision to work as a TV pundit rather than play in domestic tournaments. During a debate on A Sports with Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik, and Moin Khan, Akram made a comment without directly identifying Imad, but the implication was clear. The necessity of playing at home was emphasized by Akram, who questioned the viability of cricketers aiming for Pakistan while focusing only on televised activities.

Wasim Akram makes a huge statement

In response to Misbah's point concerning international commitments, Akram voiced concern about players who choose to pursue positions in television instead. Imad recently appeared on Pakistani media to defend his decision to skip major local tournaments like the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and the currently underway Pakistan Cup due to his obligations to T10 cricket. Wasim Akram said:

"The players who are busy with Pakistan team are fine but what about others? A couple of them are sitting on television and they want to play for Pakistan. How is that possible?:

When Pakistani spinners Shadab Khan, Usama Mir, and Mohammad Nawaz underwhelmed at the World Cup, talk of bringing in Imad began to circulate. Pakistan's prospects of making the World Cup semi-finals were renewed by wins over Bangladesh and New Zealand, despite the team's poor tournament.

How can Pakistan qualify for the semifinal?

Jos Buttler's England and Babar's Pakistani team will play their final league match of the ICC World Cup on Saturday. If Sri Lanka had defeated New Zealand, Pakistan would have qualified with a close victory. If New Zealand had finished the match in 40 overs, Pakistan may have surpassed them on Net-Run-Rate (NRR) alone if they had defeated England by about 183 runs (presuming Pakistan scored more than 300).

However, Pakistan now has to win their match against England by a wide margin because New Zealand won their last league match in just 30 overs. Babar and his group have to restrict England to 13 runs if they bat first and score 300 runs. If England surrenders for 100 after choosing to bat first, the Babar Azam led team will have to chase the target down in 2.5 overs.
