The Australian cricket team was thrashed by South Africa by a margin of 134 runs and was handed over its second consecutive loss in the ODI World Cup 2023. Pat Cummins and Co were not able to chase down 312 runs and got bundled for a score of 177 runs against the South African pace battery.

South Africa rout Australia in Lucknow
After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, the Australian cricket team, led by Pat Cummins, didn't start off well against South Africa. South African openers Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma put up a 108-run stand for the opening and gave a solid start to their team. de Kock slammed his 19th ODI ton and helped the team register a first-innings total of 311/7. Aiden Markram also contributed with a 56-run knock.

Chasing the target, the Australian cricket team didn't start off well and was 70/6 at one stage. However, Marnus Labuschagne tried to do a miracle and take his team over the line but the target was too much for the Aussies and at last, they were bundled for a score of 177 runs.
