The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 has been nothing less than entertaining, with several teams participating this year. one of the most blazing games took place in Tarouba when New Zealand and the West Indies faced off each other in a Group C match. It was a riveting encounter between the Kiwis and the Caribbean boys as the Kane Williamson-led side aimed for a bounce back after multiple upsets throughout the ICC competitions. The edge-edge competitions saw both teams' bowlers delivering immaculate spells. But during a match, one of NZ's veteran player's actions stirred up a dispute and the ICC had to step in to intervene and reprimand the cricketer.

During the 18th over of the West Indies vs New Zealand group stage clash at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago, veteran NZ star Tim Southee lost his cool as he walked back after losing out on his wicket. He smashed up a hand sanitizer dispenser out of frustration as he walked back towards the dressing room. The ICC found in breach of a code as they found him guilty of breaching Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.”
Tim Southee had admitted to the offence and accepted the Level 1 sanctions proposed by David Boon. Level 1 violations are punishable by an official reprimand as a minimum, 50% of the player's match fee as a maximum, and one or two demerit points. In addition, Southee was handed one demerit point added to his disciplinary record; this was his first infraction in 24 months.

In the lone game he had played so far in the tournament, the seasoned Tim Southee scored 2/21 against the West Indies. Ultimately, the West Indies defeated the Kiwis captained by Kane Williamson by a margin of 13 runs in this exciting match.
