19-year old Malaysian eRacer Muhammed Naquib won the first Final of the 6 Round e-racing Global Edition season when his DTM Mercedes edged out Australia's Josh Purwein and Singapore's Aleef "Hamilton" in the 40-minute finale to a weekend of e-racing around the virtual Nürburgring (Germany) circuit on Saturday.

Competitors - based in their own homes using personal driving simulated cock-pits, or "sims" – log into the Raceroom software to test their skills against racers from around the Asia-Pacific region to compete in the series.

24 entrants won their way through to the Final after a series of qualifying races on Friday night, and Shah Alam based Naquib won despite having to start the final from 9th position – or row 5-on the grid – to secure his win ahead of race favourite and defending E-Racing Global Edition champion, Aleef "Hamilton".

The 22-year-old Singaporean Aleef accrued enough points during the qualifying series and the Final to lead the Championship after the first round, with Naquib 18 points adrift in 4rd place.

Second and third in the fledgling standings are Australian teenagers Josh Purwein and Kalen Chin.

The e-Racing GP "Global Edition" is the brainchild of Malaysia's former Formula One driver, Alex Yoong.
