Andres Iniesta's Vissel Kobe beat reigning J League champions Yokohama F Marinos in a penalty shoot-out (3-2), after both teams were tied 3-3 in regulation, to lift the J League's Super Cup in Saitama on Saturday. Brazilian striker Douglas, Kyogo Furuhashi and Hotaru Yamaguchi scored for Kobe in the game while Marcos Junior, Takahiro Ohgihara and Erik scored the three goals for Marinos.

In the bizarre shoot-out that followed after ninety minutes, Marinos missed five penalty kicks while Kobe missed four themselves. Finally, Hotaru Yamaguchi converted his team's seventh kick to leave Vissel Kobe 3-2 winners in the shoot-out. This is Vissel Kobe's second trophy of the season after the Iniesta-led team won their first-ever J League trophy when they won the Emperor's Cup in early January.
