Consadole Sapporo came from a goal down to beat Vegalta Sendai 2-1 at home in a crucial J.League encounter on Saturday.
Consadole were just two points above the relegation zone while Vegalta were second from bottom going into the contest.
Vegalta led one nil after the first 45 minutes but Consadole levelled matters ten minutes into the restart. Thailand midfielder Chanathip Songkrasin, making his hundredth appearance in the league provided the vital assist before Englishman Jay Bothroyd scored the late winner.
Consadole are now on 11 points while Vegalta are on three, still searching for their first win of the campaign.
