Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels said on Monday that everyone must be "as careful as possible" given the rising numbers of coronavirus cases across Europe.
Dortmund travelled to Rome ahead of Tuesday's UEFA Champions League Group F opener against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.
Both Erling Braut Haaland and Marco Reus came on as second-half substitutes and combined to give Dortmund a 1-0 victory over Hoffenheim in the German Bundesliga on Saturday - their late appearances suggested Lucien Favre may have had an eye on this forthcoming Champions League fixture.
But Favre has cause for concern at the back, with a mounting injury list having forced the Dortmund head coach into assembling a makeshift defence for the Lazio match.

Dortmund won the Champions League in 1997 and finished as runners-up in 2013.
