'Can't Take Football Out Of Sunil': Fans Take To Social Media After Chhetri Scores In India's 3-0 Win Over Maldives

India defeated Maldives in their friendly match by a score line of 3-0. This was the first game which saw the return of legendary Indian striker and captain Sunil Chhetri after he had previously announced his retirement from his national duties. Chhetri recently overturned his decision and returned to the Indian football fray as India defeated Maldives in his first game back for the country. The match between the two nations took place in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong. 

India Beat Maldives 3-0 In Friendly Match 

India ahead of their all important AFC Asian Cup qualifiers match against Bangladesh was an opportunity for head coach Manolo Marquez to test his combinations, so that India are best prepared for the tournament. In the match against Maldives, India's opening goal was scored by Rahul Bheke as the Indian player got a goal off a ball coming from the corner.

The first half ended with India having a 1-0 lead. In the second half, India got their second goal thanks to Liston Colaco as India looked to be running away with the game. In the final minutes of the match, cometh the hour and cometh the legend as Sunil Chhetri announced his comeback with a header goal to get the score to 3-0 as India ended the match with a confident victory.

Sunil Chhetri with the goal against Maldives extended his impressive International goal scoring tally as he now has a total of 95 goals to his name. He holds a strong fourth place in the most International goal scoring rankings as he is only behind Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Ali Daei in the list.
