'Going to Miss You...': Lionel Messi Pens Heartfelt Tribute to Andres Iniesta Upon His Retirement
Lionel Messi bids a heartfelt farewell to Andres Iniesta, expressing his sentiments and appreciation as the football legend announces retirement.
Declaring his retirement from football on October 8, 2024, Andres Iniesta is among the best players from his generation and maybe the all-time great mid-fielder. Recently, the legendary midfielder was occupied serving terms in Japan and UAE. Iniesta played with FC Barcelona much of his club career. He appeared 674 times for the team and left Camp Nou in 2018. He is known for his magic in the midfield of FC Barcelona, where he played a key role with Lionel Messi and dominated the football world together.

Lionel Messi writes down an emotional text for Andres Iniesta on his retirement from football
Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta were two of the best technical players in FC Barcelona during their time at FC Barcelona, making the sport look so simple. Andres Iniesta gave the sport his all before deciding to retire from the game at the age of 40. On the other hand, Lionel Messi is still intent on increasing to his prize collection at the age of 37, even after he just helped Inter Miami win the MLS Supporters' Shield. Messi trained with his national team colleagues ahead of Argentina's next qualifications for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He paused before this to pay tribute to his retiring former colleague Andres Iniesta. Messi paid a moving homage on Instagram, having accompanied Iniesta since their days at La Masia. He posted a photo of the two of them together, expressing that their time at Camp Nou was filled with "the most magic." Lionel Messi on Instagram:
“One of the teammates with the most magic and one of those I enjoyed playing with the most”.
“The ball is going to miss you, and so will all of us”.
“I wish you the best always, you’re a phenomenon”.

Before Iniesta arrived to Vissel Kobe in Japan in 2018, Messi and Iniesta had many prosperous years at Barcelona and won several La Liga, Champions League and many more allocades together. Iniesta carried on playing for the J-League squad until 2023, when he signed with Emirates Club and decided to hang up his boots.
Iniesta, forty years old, has won the World Cup and the Euros with Spain, as well as a trio of titles while playing with Barcelona under Pep Guardiola.
