'He could become bigger star': Ex-Liverpool star claims Salah could outshine Ronaldo in Saudi
A former Liverpool defender recently shared his thoughts on the potential transfer of Mohamed Salah, sparking debate among fans.
Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique recently shared his thoughts on the potential transfer of Mohamed Salah, sparking debate among fans. Speaking to Grosvenor Sport, Enrique remarked on Salah's current form and future prospects.
Mohamed Salah could become even bigger star then Cristiano Ronaldo, says Enrique
"Mohamed Salah isn’t quite the player he was three years ago," the former Reds star said. "He doesn't take on defenders as much, though he’s still a phenomenal goal-scoring machine. If I were Liverpool, and the right offer came in – say, over £100 million – I’d seriously consider it."
Enrique highlighted the financial allure of a move to Saudi Arabia, suggesting it could yield a substantial transfer fee. "A move to Saudi Arabia could easily fetch that kind of money. I know Liverpool fans might not agree with me – they love Salah and want all their top players to stay – but sometimes, you have to know when to let go."
Drawing comparisons to other key players, Enrique emphasized the importance of strategic decisions for the club's future. "For instance, I’d renew Virgil van Dijk’s contract without hesitation, but with Salah, there’s the Saudi option, and he could become an even bigger star out there than Cristiano Ronaldo. Last year, there were offers from Saudi Arabia for Salah."
Enrique’s comments suggest that Salah might be open to exploring new opportunities. "We all know that when an offer is made, personal terms have likely been agreed upon, so it's clear he’s open to the idea of moving on from Liverpool," the Spaniard added.
While the prospect of losing Salah might unsettle many Liverpool fans, Enrique's perspective sheds light on the potential benefits for both the player and the club. A transfer could not only bring in significant funds but also provide Salah with a new platform to elevate his already illustrious career. As Liverpool navigates its future, decisions about key players like Salah will undoubtedly shape the club's trajectory in the coming years.
