'I swear on my life...': England's Ollie Watkins speaks on his HISTORIC winner against Netherlands

With a 2-1 score, England triumphally defeated the Netherlands in an exciting UEFA Euro 2024 semi-final game. With a goal by Xavi Simons in the seventh minute, the Netherlands led early; yet, England reacted fast as Harry Kane converted a penalty in the eighteen-minute. England entered the final after Ollie Watkins scored the winning goal in the 90th minute, therefore keeping the game fierce until the last moments. England will now square Spain in the UEFA Euro 2024 final following this incredible victory.

Ollie Watkins claims he predicted his match-winner for England before coming on the pitch

In Wednesday, July 10,'s Euro 2024 semi-final match in Dortmund, Ollie Watkins came off the bench to score the game-winning goal in the 90th minute, giving England a 2-1 victory against the Netherlands.

The Dutch took advantage of a mistake by Declan Rice to grab the lead in the eighth minute of the contest. Seizing the opportunity, Xavi Simons unleashed a thunderous shot that found the back of the net. The Three Lions recovered from the setback and began to play more comfortably.

Harry Kane levelled the score after a penalty was awarded after Denzel Dumfries' clip knocked him down in the penalty area. Even though both teams had plenty of chances, the game-winning goal eluded them until the very last second, when Watkins scored.

Harry Kane was replaced by Ollie Watkins in the 81st minute, and Phil Foden was replaced by Cole Palmer. The 90th-minute victor was achieved through the brilliant combination of the two substitutes. Palmer provided the ball to Watkins, who expertly struck it into the side netting from a narrow vantage point.

While receiving his Player of the Match award, Ollie Watkins spoke to ITV following the victory (via Metro). Ollie Watkins said: 

"I swear on my life, my kids’ lives, I said to Cole Palmer: 'We’re coming on today, and you’re gonna set me up', and that’s why I was so happy with Coley."I knew as soon as he got the ball that he was going to play me in, and you’ve got to be greedy, touch and finish. When I’ve seen it go in the bottom corner … it’s the best feeling ever."

England will now be seen in action for one last time in the UEFA Euro 2024 final against Spain. The match will be played at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on Sunday, July 14, 2024.
