Concerns have risen in the Indian football camp after attacking midfielder Brandon Fernandes suffered an injury scare. He picked up a knee issue during the 37th minute of the play at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong on Wednesday. Brandon had to be stretchered off the play as he could not walk back to the dugout.

Team India secured a grand-fashioned win over the Maldives to open their 2025 campaign. Rahul Bheke, Liston Colaco and the comeback King Sunil Chhetri netted headers to secure three against the opposition, who could not open their scoring account in the International friendlies. The three goals kept the Blue Tigers ahead of the opposition in the game.

Farukh Choudhary replaced the attacking midfielder, with Brandon Fernandes seen in the dugout with an ice pack on his knee. It could be a devastating injury blow for Team India as they have the crucial AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers Contest against Bangladesh . Brandon Fernandes's injury scare could be scary for the Indian football camp as they have a critical match-up in place. The Blue Tigers will be back in Shillong for the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers against Bangladesh at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. Brandon's extent of Injury is yet to be determined by Indian Football Coach Manolo Marquez. But the attacking midfielder would be doubtful for the upcoming clash next week in Shillong.

Team India will now be shifting their attention to the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers against Bangladesh on March 25, 2025, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong.
