Kylian Mbappe is currently a free agent as he has put an end to his seven year stint at Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and is departing the club in the summer. While, everyone is awaiting for the official announcement of his reportedly inevitable move to Real Madrid, Mbappe is enjoying his time off as a free agent. 

The Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer saga just doesn't seem to end but unlike the last time in 2022 the saga won't have a dramatic twist. Back in summer 2022, the French superstar was expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer but in a last minute U-turn he decided to renew with PSG. 

The decision angered a lot of Real Madrid fans and certainly surprised a lot of critics. However, Kylian Mbappe confirmed that his decision was influenced by outside factors which were more than just staying at PSG.

Kylian Mbappe explains his decision to Renew in 2022

When Kylian Mbappe renewed with PSG it was always rumoured that his renewal was down to the Qatari ownership group's pressure to stay at the club before the World Cup in Qatar. There was additional pressure from French President Emmanuel Macron on Mbappe to continue playing in France.

Kylian in his recent interview with CNN confirmed that there were a lot of reasons to stay and it was more than just playing for PSG. 

"It was more than staying at PSG, it was a World Cup in Qatar, there were many things around it. It was a difficult decision, for a 20 something year old boy. But I don’t regret it,” said Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe further said that he doesn't regret anything as renewing with PSG made him the top scorer at the club. 

“I don’t regret it but it was a difficult decision. I became PSG top scorer…I only want to remember the good things…but it wasn’t an easy situation and I don’t wish that on anybody”, said Kylian Mbappe. 

Kylian Mbappe is set to join Real Madrid and the official announcement will arrive after Real Madrid's Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley on Sunday.
