'Lionel Messi Bomb Threat': Chilling FIFA World Cup Terror Plot Revealed, Cristiano Ronaldo Also Targeted

Details have emerged regarding a chilling terror plot that targeted both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo during the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Only a couple of weeks have passed since Spain lifted the FIFA World Cup title, defeating Argentina at MetLife Stadium. But a chilling terror plot during the World Cup involving both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo has now come to light.

Lionel Messi Bomb Plot Revealed

Argentine captain Lionel Messi reportedly was the subject of several threats which were revealed in a police dossier recently. Spanish outlet Informacion.es, various security agencies worked in tandem with the FBI in order to counter any kind of threat that emerged during the tournament on US soil.

One of the main plots was unveiled during Argentina's game against Jordan. An unnamed person called at the Dallas Airport and claimed he, alongside two other people were travelling to the stadium with “homemade bombs and AR-15 rifle.” The threat was aimed at police officers, players of both teams and specifically Messi was mentioned by the caller.

Another threat was dug up during Argentina's World Cup match against Egypt. A man took to social media to post a threat against Messi once again. “I’m going to walk into the Atlanta stadium and blow up Messi with four bombs stuck in my body," the post on X read.

Authorities also revealed a bomb threat during Argentina's match at Atlanta Stadium, which claimed more than one bomb was placed in bins. Bomb squad, in coordination with police and other agencies were deployed to thwart any kind of terror plots.

Portugal Legend Cristiano Ronaldo Also Targeted

As per the dossier, a man was seen enquiring about Cristiano Ronaldo's movement on June 14, and subsequently a FIFA employee raised an alert. Houston police went into action mode and arrested the man on June 16 from the same hotel Ronaldo was staying at that time.

The dossier also revealed that French referee Franois Letexier was subjected to several threats during the FIFA World Cup 2026.
