After Germany's departure from Euro 2024, Thomas Muller has made hints about his international retirement. Spain beat the hosts 2-1 in the quarter-finals at MHPArena in Stuttgart on Friday, July 5.
Dani Olmo moved Spain ahead in the 51st minute following a scoreless first half. Germany equalised in the 89th minute with Florian Wirtz's goal, therefore extending the game into extra time.

Germany had an 84 percent pass accuracy, maintained 52 percent of possession, and got eight yellow cards. They logged five shots on target, two offsides, and five corners. After getting a second yellow card, Dani Carvajal from Spain was sent off in the last minutes of extra time.
In an interview with Sky Sport, Thomas Muller indicated his likely retirement following the terrible death, as recorded by Fabrizio Romano. Thomas Muller said:
“It’s very likely that this was my last game with Germany, yes.”
