Nagoya Grampus beat Shimizu S-Pulse 2-1 as the top division of the J League resumed on Saturday. Hosts S-Pulse took the lead in the 18th minute but Yuki Soma levelled matters on 32 minutes before an own goal by Valdo gave Grampus the three points. Thailand international Teerasil Dangda was introduced after the hour mark but failed to deny S-Pulse their second successive defeat in the league. S-Pulse had lost 3-1 to FC Tokyo in the opening week of the season back in February before the season was stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
