Paulo Dybala announces to stay at AS Roma after rejecting a mouthwatering offer from SPL
Argentinean sensation Paulo Dybala declared on Thursday that he would remain with AS Roma, therefore ending the rumours of a possible transfer to Al Qadsiah to Saudi Pro League.
According to reports, Dybala turned down over a three-year deal a rich offer of €75 million ($83 million).
Dybala made an Instagram post to reveal his love and dedication for the club and announced that he will be seen in action on Sunday.
His choice follows after an uncertain moment about his future. From missing the starting lineup in their Serie A opening against Cagliari last Sunday, he had been practising apart from the Roma first team.
Though Dybala is in Roma's last year of contract, the pact of the contract contains an automatic extension and for its activation, he should participate in at least 15 official games this season. He is scheduled to get €7.5 million plus bonuses and another €2 million.
Paulo Dybala has been a vital player for Roma since his 2022 move from Juventus, scoring 34 goals and providing 18 assists in 78 games.
Roma supporters showed their want for Dybala to remain last week, and they urged the team not to sell the star by staging demonstrations outside the training ground. They even mobbed around his home in Roma, with many fans shouting hard to convey their request for him to stay at the club. Dybala's choice to stay in AS Roma set off festivities among his admirers who gathered outside his house to celebrate and cannot wait for him to make his first appearance of the season.
Newly promoted Saudi team Al Qadsiah, which had been chasing Dybala during the summer transfer window, has a lineup including former Real Madrid defender Nacho Fernandez and ex- Arsenal attacker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who followed the path of Cristiano Ronaldo to play in the Middle East.
Leandro Paredes, Roma and Argentina teammate, greeted Dybala's decision to stay favourably. He said, "For those who haven't understood it, he remains with us."
Paulo Dybala is anticipated to be seen in action against Empoli when AS Roma takes them on Sunday, August 25, 2024.
