After fulfilling the dream of a young fan by taking a selfie with him, Cristiano Ronaldo once again had a fan encounter during EURO 2024 match, this time not a friendly one. Following the culmination of the Portugal vs Georgia Group F match of the continental competition at the Arena AufSchalke, Gelsenkirchen, an enthusiast who was in attendance tried to breach the security and jump at the field facility at the time when Ronaldo was heading out.

Alert security personnel saw the movement of the fan and quickly reacted to keep Ronaldo out of harm's way. The fan however jumped and may have hurt himself as the point where he fell was seemingly not flat. The episode was captured on camera and the clip of it is making rounds on social media.

Just like the fan missed out on his target, Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo also could not find the sweet spot in the match against Georgia. In their final group fixture, Portugal suffered an ugly loss to Georgia. Goals from Khavicha Kvaratskhelia and Georges Mikautadze gave Georgia a 2-0 lead over Portugal, which the 2016 winners could not nullify.

Since it was a dead rubber for Portugal and a must-win game for Georgia, the latter showcased more intent and hence reaped the ideal result. Both the teams have advanced to the round of 16 of the competition. In R16, Georgia will take on one of the title contenders Spain, and Portugal will have to see off the challenge of Slovenia. Georgia vs Spain will take place on June 30, whereas Portugal vs Slovenia will be held on July 1.
