In the UEFA Super Cup final Real Madrid defeated Atalanta 2-0. The 59th-minute opener came from the Uruguayan Federico Valverde; Kylian Mbappé doubled the advantage in the 68th minute. Atalanta managed 7 shots with 2 on target, while Real Madrid controlled the game scoring 13 shots with 6 on target. Real Madrid also showed their control by keeping 52% possession. Two yellow cards apiece went to both teams. The game took place at Warsaw's National Stadium.

Kylian Mbappe made a huge statement after the UEFA Super Cup 2024 victory 

Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid's one of the biggest player, produced an amazing start for the team against Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup final on Wednesday, August 14. Having scored his first goal for the Spanish giants, the French captain delightedly helped them to achieve a 2-0 triumph.

Fan favourite Kylian Mbappé joined Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer following a stellar career with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), where he became the all-time top scorer with 256 goals and 108 assists in 308 games. Hwoever, there he did not win a single European trophy, despite being a great performer and lifting several domestic trophies. 

Starting his adventure with the current UEFA Champions League holders on a bright note, Mbappé netted the second goal in the Super Cup final and brought the trophy to his new team marking his first-ever European Cup title in just one appearance for Real Madrid. As Madrid Xtra on X reported, the enthusiastic 25-year-old voiced his delight and thanks following the game. Kylian Mbappe said: 

“Everyone knows how much playing for Real Madrid means to me. It’s incredible.

Further sharing his views, Kylian Mbappe’s joy was felt in his words as speaking to Movistar Futbol, he said: 

"It has been a great night. I have been waiting for this moment for a long time, to play with this shirt, with this badge, for these fans. It's a great moment for me. And we won a title, which is important. In Madrid, you always have to win," 

"I'm very happy, and with the goal too for sure, it's important for a striker like me. But the most important thing was to be able to have the pleasure of playing with this team, I had a lot of enthusiasm. It's a great day."
