Was the 2018 Ballon d'Or ROBBED from Cristiano Ronaldo? Here is a MAJOR Claim By Juventus Legend
Juventus legend makes a major claim suggesting that Cristiano Ronaldo was robbed of the 2018 Ballon d'Or, stirring controversy and debate among fans worldwide.
With an outstanding record of 5 Ballon d'Or awards to his credit, Cristiano Ronaldo generally rules the debate on the best players of all time. Renowned as the world's best top goal scorer, Ronaldo's extraordinary abilities and successes confirm his status as a footballing superstar for decades. However, many believe that Ronaldo could have had 6-Ballon d’Ors if he had won the 2018 one, which Luka Modric won. Given Ronaldo’s goal-scoring records and tites showed utter dominance in every competition, many believe that he was allegedly robbed of the award.
Juventus legend Giorgio Chiellini believes that Cristiano Ronaldo was robbed of the 2018 Ballon d’Or
Juventus legend Giorgio Chiellini once said that Real Madrid's acts influenced Cristiano Ronaldo not to win the 2018 Ballon d'Or, which instead went to Luka Modric. Ronaldo made a well-publicized move to Juventus that summer; the transfer cost was said to be £100 million.
In 44 games in all competitions, the Portuguese player scored 44 goals and offered eight assists during his last season with Real Madrid in 2017–18. Finding the goal 15 times in only 13 games, he was especially outstanding in the UEFA Champions League and significantly helped Real Madrid to secure their third straight European crown under coach Zinedine Zidane.
In a 2019 interview (as reported by The Standard), Chiellini spoke about the alleged control over Ronaldo's Ballon d'Or candidacy. The Italian said:
“It's OK that Messi has won the Ballon d'Or this year [2019]. The real theft was last year [2018], Real Madrid decided that Cristiano should not win the Ballon d'Or. It was really strange.”
"Cristiano won the Champions League, [but I suppose] by that logic Van Dijk should have won it this year (in 2019)."
“Maybe last year (in 2018) Griezmann, Pogba or Mbappe should have won for doing extraordinary things at the World Cup. Modric made no sense.”
By winning the Ballon d'Or in 2018, Luka Modric became the first player to challenge Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's ten-year supremacy since Kaka's success in 2007. Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus and continued his journey then on later with Manchester United, and now is with Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League. CR7 recently scored his 900th career goal, making him the player with the most goals in the history of the sport.
