'Goalkeeper Was Their Best Player': Wasted Chances Haunt PSG As Liverpool Run Away With 1-0 Win In First Leg Of RO16 Clash

Liverpool defeated Paris Saint Germain 1-0 in their UEFA Champions League RO16 first leg match in Paris.

Paris Saint Germain were left frustrated after they failed to capitalize on several goal scoring chances and ended up losing the match 1-0. Paris Saint Germain and Liverpool met in the first leg of their round of 16 clash after the conclusion of the group stage and the playoffs. Paris Saint Germain looked the more dominant side in their match against Liverpool but it was the Premier League club that came out on top. PSG's flawed finishing came into play again as they head into the second leg against Liverpool with a 1-0 deficit. 

PSG Left Red Faced As Liverpool Run Away With 1-0 Win

Liverpool ran away with a 1-0 win against PSG following a hard fought game. Paris Saint Germain were clearly the more dominant side in the match but could not capitalize on the several scoring chances they had. PSG had a total of 28 shots on target as compared to Liverpool's two shots. 

It was a late goal by Harvey Elliott which proved to be the difference maker as he scored in the 87th minute to get Liverpool the win in the first leg of the round of 16.

PSG will be looking to improve their finishing ahead of the second leg which will take place next week. 

Luis Enrique's Statement Following Liverpool Loss 

Paris Saint Germain coach Luis Enrique was left unhappy with his team's performance after the 1-0 win. He went on to say that Liverpool's best player was their goalkeeper and that says a lot.

“We were better in the game, the number of chances we had. Probably today we deserved a lot more. Their goalkeeper was their best player today, which says a lot,” said Luis Enrique after his team's defeat at home.

PSG and Liverpool will meet once again in the second leg next week when they face off at Anfield in Liverpool.
