Will Kylian Mbappe need surgery after a BROKEN NOSE vs Austria? DR. says YES but FFF has other plans
Will Kylian Mbappe need surgery after sustaining a BROKEN NOSE vs Austria? The doctor claims so, but the French Football Federation (FFF) has other intentions.
In their UEFA Euro 2024 debut, France secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Austria in Group D. The only goal of the match came via an own goal by Maximilian Wöber in the 38th minute. The French team dominated possession with 52% and produced 14 shots, three of which were on target. The match witnessed 18 fouls, with Austria receiving 5 yellow cards. With this win, France joins Netherlands at the top of Group D, setting a strong foundation for their Euro campaign. The match took place at the Merkur Spiel Arena.
Doctor says Kylian Mbappe will need surgery for his broken nose but the French Federation says the mask will take care of the Euro
A broken nose may keep Kylian Mbappe out of France's Euro 2024 competition, according to Spanish doctor Dr. Angel Martin. The injury to Mbappe happened on June 17 during France's 1-0 victory over Austria.
Dr. Martin told Radio MARCA that Mbappe's nose injury could require a two to three week recuperation time during which time the afflicted area would not move much. With this longer recovery period, Mbappe could not be able to play in the remaining Euro 2024 games. The doctor said:
“If Kylian Mbappe has broken his nose, he will need a surgery and he might spend 2-3 weeks without moving his nose.”
However, the statement from the French Federation was reassuring as Fabrizio Romano quoted, indicating that Kylian Mbappe will not need surgery. The statement read:
“Kylian Mbappé returns to the base camp of the French national team”.“Kylian Mbappé suffered a broken nose during the second part of the Austria-France held this Monday in Düsseldorf”.
“The captain of France was treated first by the medical staff and Dr. Franck Le Gall, who diagnosed him with a nose fracture”.
“Mbappé will receive treatment in the next few days, but he will not undergo surgery in the immediate future”.
“A mask will be made for him so that the number 10 of the French national team can prepare for his return to the competition after a period dedicated to treatment”.
Kylian Mbappe, 25, was badly injured in the 87th minute of the game after colliding with Kevin Danso of Austria. As such, the Les Bleus skipper had to leave the pitch, and in the ninetieth minute Olivier Giroud came in.
Following the Group D triumph of France over Austria, Didier Deschamps talked about Mbappe's injuries. As transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reported, he said:
“Yes, Kylian Mbappe has probably broken his nose.”
Diario AS claims that Kylian Mbappe might spend the rest of Euro 2024 in Germany wearing a safety mask. The new signing for Real Madrid had a strong showing before his injury. An own goal by Austrian defender Maximillian Wober resulted from his outstanding cross. Mbappe also won six of ten ground duels, three of six dribbling attempts, and both of his aerial duels.
Strangely enough, Mbappe sat down and re-entered the pitch, earning him a yellow card. While allowing Austria to substitute, Spanish referee Jesus Gil Manzano refused France the same chance.
