Formula 1: Oscar Piastri Storms To Pole Position In Shanghai Ahead Of George Russell And Teammate Lando Norris

McLaren driver Lando Norris has taken the pole position in China for the Chinese Grand Prix.

McLaren driver Oscar Piastri stormed to the pole position as he will start the Chinese Grand Prix ahead of the rest of the grid. This also proved to be a milestone in Oscar Piastri's career as he got his first ever pole in Formula One. He beat Mercedes driver George Russell and his fellow McLaren driver Lando Norris to get to the pole position. Oscar Piastri had a lap of 1m 30.641s which was enough for him to get pole position for the race which will be taking place tomorrow (23rd March 2025). 

Oscar Piastri Gets Pole Position Ahead Of Chinese Grand Prix

Oscar Piastri had a massive lap as he raced to his first ever pole position in his Formula One career. Piastri as he went into his first lap in Q3, went the fastest ahead of the other nine drivers in Q3. Oscar Piastri then went in for a second lap as he looked to improve his time which he did by the finest of margins.

Mercedes driver George Russell had an absolute flyer of a lap but he could not beat Piastri's time and thus had to settle for second. Oscar Piasti's teammate Lando Norris came in third to finish up the top three for the race on Sunday. 

Ferrari's Pace Disappears Following Sprint Win

Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton who had won the Sprint Race just a few hours before the qualifying seemed to have lost all of their pace heading into qualifying as they could only manage a P5 and P6. Lewis Hamilton in two attempts to set the fastest lap could only manage to go fifth fastest and his teammate Charles Leclerc was sixth fastest.

Lewis Hamilton will now be starting the Chinese Grand Prix behind Red Bull driver and defending World Champion Max Verstappen who was considered as one of the rivals to Hamilton.
