In what was another dominant display by what seemed like a vintage Lewis Hamilton, the seven time world champion has picked up the win in the Sprint Race in Shanghai ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix. This also marked the first ever Sprint Race win for the Italy based car manufacturer. Lewis Hamilton beat out Max Verstappen who started the sprint race in second and McLaren's Oscar Piastri who started third on the grid to pick up the win.
In what was looking like another doomed season for Ferrari during the Australian Grand Prix, 7-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton has turned things around for the prancing horse, it would seem.
Lewis Hamilton in what was a disaster weekend in Australia could only manage a P8 in qualifying. Things turned from bad to worse in the race as he fell two places and finished the opening race of the season in P10 and had to walk away with only a single point.
Ahead of the start of the Chinese Grand Prix weekend, Lewis Hamilton had stated that he was still understanding the Ferrari car and setup. It would be safe to say that he has the car under his control now as he raced to pole position on Friday, 21st March where he beat out Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri.
Now Lewis Hamilton has converted that pole position to a sprint race win as things finally are starting to look upwards for Hamilton and Ferrari.
As Lewis Hamilton picked up the win, he was followed in second by Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen in third. Lewis Hamilton’s teammate Charles Leclerc could only manage a P5 with Lewis Hamilton’s former teammate George Russell coming in at fourth.
The drivers will now head into the qualifying which will line up the grid for the main race on Sunday, 23rd March 2025. Lewis and Ferrari will be hoping to carry this momentum on into the main race on Sunday.
